When someone dies then an estate needs to be “administered”. This means that estate assets need to be collected, debts need to be paid and the estate needs to be distributed to beneficiaries.

The person or people who do this duty are called “Personal Representatives” or “PR’s” for short. If the person who died left a will, then they are appointed as executors. If there was no will then they are called “administrators”.
